Job Overview

Lead the efforts of a production team. Duties include production planning, organizing, training, coaching, compliance with various customer, company, government requirements and guidelines, and continuous improvement of product cost, quality, and service. Process Owner of cheese making, milk and whey processing including leading three team advisors which cover 2 shifts of 50 hourly partners. The process owner will lead the efforts in measuring and leading efforts to meet converting goals including cost, quality, service, safety and raw material waste. Lead efforts of implementing company culture, training and coaching in all areas of process excellence.

Detailed Description

Duties of this position include:

• Acquire the technical knowledge and understanding to ensure most efficient operation of company’s Swiss cheese manufacturing and dairy converting processes.

• Lead department efforts in meeting or exceeding goals in Productivity, Raw Material Usage, Safety, Customer Complaints, Service and Profit.

• Through the use of problem solving methods and other quality tools identify and make process improvements.

• Train, coach, evaluate and reinforce manufacturing principles with partners.

• Identify and communicate customer requirements. Develop PCP’s to insure customer requirements are met. Make sure that customer orders are scheduled in a timely manner taking into consideration production efficiencies.

• Be knowledgeable of various government regulations that must be complied with, i.e., OSHA, USDA, FDA, EPA, EEOC, OFCCP, PMO, etc.

• Administer various company, plant or department processes in certification programs, pay systems, assessment/feedback processes
• Identify potential Capital improvements going through the analysis justification and approval process. Manage or assist in the management of capital projects.

• Review and make appropriate changes to the standard cost system. Track and maintain control of variable and fixed budgets.

Job Requirements

The preferred candidate will have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Food/Dairy Science, Microbiology, Food Technology or related field8+ years of experience in Research Science, Dairy, Formulations, Cheesemaking, or Cultured Dairy Product Manufacturing

• Demonstrated leadership of small to mid-sized teams within a manufacturing environment

• Demonstrated process and project skills

• Must have a strong foundational knowledge of dairy fundamentals and food chemistry

• Technical knowledge of cheese and/or cultured dairy manufacturing
