POSITION: Plant Manager

LOCATION: Midwest

Objective:
It is the company’s objective to manufacture cheeses of the highest quality on a consistent basis to present to the consumer. This position is responsible for the overall function of all plant processes (including cheese making, brine area, cutting room, lab and whey evaporator) insure the highest standards of cheese quality, sanitation, customer service, and team work are maintained. The position must insure that personnel are properly trained in their duties and performing them in a manner consistent with the standards and policies followed by the company and that they are being utilized in the operation as efficiently as possible. Furthermore, this position must insure the integrity of the company tradition of cheese making is strictly adhered to thereby providing consistent quality and quantity of cheese.

Reports to: President

Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

2. Similar management experience and record of accomplishing goals.

3. Dairy experience a plus but not required.

Tasks and Duties:

1. Regular reporting to the President either by phone, email or face-to-face.

2. Keep abreast of the latest technology and innovations to have the highest quality, yield, and efficiencies possible.

3. Timely completion of projects and objectives of the plant and company.

4. Insure all persons reporting to Plant Manager are trained in their respective job duties and take corrective actions when necessary.

5. Insure all departments are staffed and scheduled properly.

6. Work in conjunction to insure all sanitation procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices and Safe Quality Food Practices are being followed by plant personnel.

7. Manage activities to insure the highest standards of customer service are met such as special requirements of customers, appearance of final product leaving facility and packaging.

8. Control manufacturing expenses by maintaining high productivity through proper utilization of available labor and plant equipment.

9. Maintain inventory integrity by insuring training of personnel in all processes related to inventory transactions, overseeing physical inventory, and the development and implementation of procedures, insure accuracy of scales and other mechanical processes affecting inventory quantities.

10. Work to reduce Below Grade Cheese defined as fishbait, trim, grinders, and for process.

11. Develop team work within each group of employees and within the entire plant to achieve the goal of making a high quality product.

12. Enforce Safety Practices.

13. Work with the President to meet annual goals of production, special projects and whatever else is deemed necessary.
