TITLE: Technical Director (R&D and Quality)– Processed Cheese

LOCATION: Wisconsin

SALARY: To $125K (relocation assistance provided)

Reports to the Dir of Operations & then to the President

Direct Reports: QC Manager, Lab, Sanitation Supervisor, R&D Staff
**focus on a person with the following skills and experience

Product formulation

New product development

Label Review, i.e. ingredient decks, NLEA, nutritional claims

Frequent interaction with sales department and customers

The position will supervise the R&D, the lab and QC, so the qualified candidate should have a QC background in addition to a R&D background.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages and Oversees all areas of Quality

Staffing and Hiring

Schedules Workload, Assignments, Hours

Training

Daily Product Review and Evaluation

Establishes, Implements and Verifies Quality Systems and Controls

Internal Lab Tests, Checks and Verification

Independent Lab Tests

Daily Interaction on floor with QC Staff

Daily Interaction on floor with Production Personnel

3rd Party Audits, Customer Audits

SQF Implementation and Certification

Develops, Maintains, Verifies Product Specifications

Completes Customer QC Surveys, Questionnaires

Manages and Oversees all areas of food safety and compliance

Labeling and NLEA

FDA, WDA, APHIS, EU inspections and regulations

Primary contact for all regulatory inspection and contacts

Test and Hold Program

Environmental and Product Testing

Internal Audits, Inspections, Self-Assessments

Manages and Oversees all aspects of R&D

Schedules projects, assignments, workload and hours

Cost improvement

Formulation

New Product Development

Product Enhancement

Pilot Production

Frequent with sales and marketing staff and customers

Required Experience and Skills

Food Science Degree or equivalent

10+ years supervision/management experience

Strong, steady employment history

R&D, Formulation Experience

Significant Experience interacting with regulatory inspectors

Significant experience with HAACP

Significant experience with SQF or similar program

Significant experience interacting and working with food production

Innovative, Creative

Problem Solver

Strong People Skills

Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills

Preferred Skills

SQF Certification

Masters or PhD – Food Related

Bi-Lingual (Spanish/English)

Better Process School Certification

Acidified Foods Certification

Retort Certification

Process Cheese manufacturing experience
