TITLE: QA MANAGER

LOCATION: MICHIGAN

SALARY: $60-75K

SUMMARY: Responsible for maintaining company’s Food Safety and Quality Programs in order to meet the requirements, specifications and standards established by our customers, the company and regulatory agencies.

DUTIES:

• Work with all departments to oversee the activities necessary for effective implementation, compliance and maintenance of food safety and quality plans and pre-requisite programs

• Work with compliance to oversee the development and maintenance of the site’s third party certifications such as the organic, kosher and SQF programs

• Maintain the systems for measuring how the site is meeting the company’s food safety and quality objectives; provide management with the results and recommend any corrective action that may be required

• Oversee change management and provide feedback on the impact of these changes to operations. Complete and maintain associated documents

• Interface with all other departments to establish food safety and quality requirements on individual products and services based on customer need, the function of the product and its reliability, salability and value

• Ensure food safety, regulatory compliance and quality compliance. Be the site’s key contact for this with regulators, customers and internal personnel. Represent the facility in audits and oversee associated corrective actions

• Manage third party audits and oversee associated corrective actions

• Responsible for set up, maintenance and use of ERP system for all designated activities

• Manage the lab. Oversee the inspection and testing to ensure that product/processes are reviewed to reduce or eliminate defects; develop recommendations for improvements that increase product uniformity and process reliability; improve process to reduce field failures/complaints; ensure all product available to ship has been tested and approved as required

• Responsible for employee relations including work direction of employees, hiring, training, performance reviews, administering policies and procedures, disciplinary action and compensation recommendations

• Responsible for department budget and cost management activities

• Responsible for a safe work environment

• Communicate effectively with employees, maintenance, quality, management and other team members

• Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

• 4 year college degree in operations or related field is preferred or a minimum of 10 years food/dairy production experience

• Certified HACCP Manager and SQF Practitioner required

• Must have experience implementing quality program that meets the requirements of Global Food Safety Initiative Standards, such as SQF or BRC

• Must have aseptic processing/packaging experience and a strong knowledge of Low Acid Canned Food Regulations

• Minimum 5 years experience in food processing and dairy production

• Previous supervisory experience required

• Must be detail oriented

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Good computer skills and experience with MS Office products

• Must be able to work and communicate effectively with team members
