TITLE: Plant Manager

LOCATION: Midwest

SALARY: $95-105K

SUMMARY

Manage and coordinate the manufacturing, operation, and maintenance of the facility. Evaluate costs and efficiencies. Maintain a staff that is educated and well motivated.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Direct and coordinate plant operations within company policies and procedures.

2. Help establish and monitor department production goals.

3. Establish and maintain good communication within the company.

4. Keep staff educated and motivated in there job performance.

5. Coordinate production schedules, purchasing, and inventory management.

6. Select and train management staff.

7. Conduct management employee reviews.

8. Schedule and conduct operation, production, and departmental meetings.

9. Coordinate and direct maintenance activities as related to production needs.

10. Convey company quality policies and product specifications to departments.

11. Work with the Human Resources Department on employee matters, disciplinary concerns, and staffing needs.

12. Communicate with the Safety Manager and attend regularly scheduled safety meetings to help ensure a safe work environment.

13. Review capital expenditures and projects on a regular basis.

14. Other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Manage department costs.

2. Coordinate research and new product development.

3. Coordinate and resolve quality concerns.

4. Communicate with Sales and Marketing to satisfy customer needs.

5. Assist with regulatory and customer audits.

6. Communicate with Waste Treatment Manger to meet effluent requirements.

7. Work with outside consultants and universities as necessary, to ensure knowledge of the latest technology trends.

8. Attend industry conferences and seminars for further education.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skill required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor Science degree in Food Science or related Sciences.

2. Direction of plant operations, significant knowledge of manufacturing processes. This is obtained by 10 to 15 years of manufacturing experience including supervisory responsibilities.

3. Computer knowledge with respect to Microsoft Office Products, and the ability to learn the Ross manufacturing systems.

4. Extensive knowledge of Natural and Processed Cheese technology.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Plant environment and some office atmosphere.

2. Lifting and carrying up to 70 lbs.

3. Standing and walking for parts of the day.
